Morbid Music of the Month (July)

Top five songs that I have been addicted to sometime in the month of July:
*with hyperlinks to their youtube video*

Top Song of the month:
The Clockwork Quartet- The Doctor's Wife

I am absolutely in love with this song. It has been stuck on replay for probably several days this month, I can listen to it over and over and never tire of it. I find this song so moving. It is about a doctor whose wife is terminally ill, the doctor records her progress every month and although it is obvious she will not live, he still insists on trying. You can almost hear the madness in his voice near the end. His determination and the hopelessness of the situation, mixed with the female vocals, cello, and violin is just beautiful.

Another excellent song by The Clockwork Quartet is 'The Watchmaker's Apprentice'.

Runner ups:
Abney Park- Steampunk Revolution (Very fun and catchy!)
Rasputina- Tourniquet (Rasputina covering Marilyn Manson's 'Tourniquet'. I personally think that this song is better than the original)
Deathstars- Greatest Fight on Earth (Amazing song.)
Emilie Autumn- Time For Tea (what can I say? It's about tea.)

Kawaii Kitty and Bunny Polymer Clay Charms

As I have mentioned in earlier posts, I'll be going on vacation tomorrow for about two weeks. While I'm on vacation, I will be seeing some close relatives so I decided I would make semi-matching Polymer Clay charms as gifts.

*WARNING:* picture-heavy. (As always ;)

The black kitty wearing a pumpkin is the one I made for myself ;)

Basic Tea Biscuit Recipe

Sorry about the bad photos, at the time I was taking pictures of the teddy bears (which I made (called Doom Bears)) so I wasn't focusing on the tea biscuits!

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup shortening/butter
  • 3/4 cup milk

Directions

  1. Combine flour, baking powder, and salt.
  2. mix shortening/butter in until mixture has a crumb-like texture.
  3. Stir in milk with a fork to make a soft dough. Knead 8 to 10 times, and then roll out to a thickness of at least 1/2 inch. (the dough may feel dry, this is fine. If the dough is too dry then you can add more milk as necessary)
  4. Cut into rounds with a cookie or biscuit cutter (I use the rim of a small glass cup instead). Place on cookie sheet.
  5. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes on 400 degrees F. Serve warm.

Like I said in the title, they're very basic. They're sort of a mixture between a pastry and a loaf of bread. I love to eat them plain, or with jam or butter..Sometimes I'll put a glob of icing on them.

I'm planning on posting a more sweet, desert-like tea biscuit recipe (when I get back from my trip) that an aunt of mine emailed to me which turned out quite good, so keep reading!~

Finished DIY Bikini

In a previous post (Recent Polymer Clay projects, and Bikini decorating!) I put some pictures of a bikini top I was decorating. Here's the finished product! (unless of course I choose to add more things to it, which is quite likely).

(The top cost 7$ at walmart)
The cute little skulls on the left are finished, I painted on the faces with acrylic paint (because stitching them or sewing on eyes and such would be a painfully tedious task).
The heart on the right has a spider in the middle that I painted on.
andd, the little bow and charm in the middle were both made by me. I sewed the bow to the bikini, but the charm can be taken off and put back on easily.

Yeah, I'm thinking I'll add more to it. Its addictive!

My Room.

A little more than a year ago was when I first learned about the goth subculture. After reading numerous articles by Jillian Venters on  http://gothic-charm-school.com/ and researching what the goth subculture is, I decided to start expressing my inner goth. I live in a very small town and I always thought Goth was just another style. However, once I learned that it was really an entire lifestyle, I realized I was pretty much already apart of it (I've been listening to Evanescence since grade 4, Lacuna Coil since grade 6, Sirenia and Epica since grade 7, fell in love with The Birthday Massacre in grade 8. Not to mention I always loved Beetlejuice, and horror movies have always been my first choice at the local movie rental shop, etc).

Anyways, I started dressing Goth fairly abruptly (as I already had half a closet of black) and I wanted to give my room a little makeover. Unfortunately, my mother didn't (and still doesnt) approve of all the black and 'darkness' (she shakes her head constantly as I walk out the door to catch the school bus). So, since painting my room black and draping black and purple velvet curtains all over the walls was not an option, I've simply been tossing little gothy trinkets all over the room.

My bookshelf: Vampire books, Frankenstein, Vampire Manga, more Vampire books, some Stephen King...pretty cliche stuff, I know. On the top shelf, to the far right I scattered dried roses and some skulls I bought at the Dollarama around halloween.

I printed some bat silhouettes off the internet and taped them to my wall. Also I bought some cute stuffed animals.

I got the Spider with the top hat from the Dollarama around halloween (His name is Mr. Chaps). The striped Voodoo plush I also got at the Dollarama; but surprisingly I got it in the spring (His name is Suffer VenTeddy)! The small bat is something I made :D his name is Barnibas Van FrankenBat. anddd finally, the bigger bat is an Ugly Doll plush that I got from 'Ms. Tiggy Winkles', named Beelzebub.

I have a collection of candle's, paintings/sketches that I did..and Tea cups&pots!
(Because you'know..Tea is goth ;)

Lastly, my desk. not very gothy, but it sure is a mess of art supplies!

I used to have more skulls and rats and such strewn around. However, every time a new friend comes over or has a birthday I give them one. So I'm nearly all out. Halloween needs to come faster!

Breakfast and afternoon Tea Time!

This mornings breakfast :) Tea time! Orange Pekoe tea with soy milk, and egg-less, flour-less breakfast muffins (from my own recipe which I will probably post eventually)
Its a Mixture of Wheat Germ, Wheat/Oat Bran, ground Flaxseed, and oats. With Vanilla, Cinnamon, Milk, and Chocolate Chips and a Raspberry center. Topped off with Walnuts :)

And My afternoon snack was sugar/sweetener-free apple crisp, and more tea<3 I just absolutely love Orange Pekoe, and English Breakfast tea served with soy milk<3

The apple crisp is a mix of large flake oats, butter, craisins, a single chopped&peeled apple, vanilla, cinnamon and toasted almonds. (I'll probably post recipe and directions eventually! It's super easy!)

I took these pics for fun and really liked them, so I had to include them;
My hair looks so red! I wore my Leech and Bat necklace today :)

Recent Polymer Clay projects, and Bikini decorating!

So I've been working on some little artsy projects in the past two days. Here are some photos!

*WARNING* Picture-Heavy.

So this one is going to be a gift to my lovely Aunt, as her birthday is coming up in august. It's a miniature model of her, my Uncle, and their little dog, Bear; Made from Polymer Clay (Sculpey III), Acrylic paint, and little pink beads.

The following are two necklaces I made last night; An E.A. inspired Leech charm on a ribbon, and a basic black Bat charm (on a chain).

I'll be going camping on Wednesday for a couple of weeks, so I have been goth-ing up my bikini! So far it's a work-in-progress ;)

It's a work-in-process ;)

The three white things on the second picture will be skulls. I made the little Bat cameo, and the little green bow in the middle, aren't they cute? :)

Emilie Autumn and The Devils Carnival

Emilie Autumns new album 'Fight Like A girl' came out three days ago, and I am dissapointed to have not yet purchased it because unfortunately, she has not yet released the album on iTunes.

In other news, I am very excited for the release of the Devil's Carnival -from the makers of the incredible musical 'Repo! The Genetic Opera' which also means... more of the amazingly sexy Terrance Zdunich! - on DVD. The date is not yet known, but there has been talk!
The Devil's Carnival Soundtrack will be my next purchase. However, it does seem like a shame to ruin the fun of watching a new musical when you have already heard the entire soundtrack. So I will make a concious effort to refrain from watching every scene from The Devils Carnival I can find on Youtube. Although, thise video popped up on my recommendations and I just couldn't help myself...a little insight wouldn't hurt, right? ;)

Just amazing. So sweet and devious. And oh look! The lovely Emilie Autumn as The Painted Doll!
Oh god, I cannot seem to get enough of this bloody song! <3
